Know your rights

Workers' comp is your right, not a favor. Here's what the law generally gives you after a job injury — check your state page for the specifics.

What you're generally entitled to

  • Medical care for your work injury, at no cost to you.
  • Wage replacement while you can't work (usually a portion of your pay).
  • The right to file a claim without being fired or punished for it.
  • The right to appeal if your claim is denied.
  • Vocational rehab if you can't return to your old job.

Rules vary by state. Find yours on the state help page.
